Extreme Bargains is a UK-based deals publisher. For the purpose of UK data protection law, we are the “data controller” of the personal information you provide to us on this site.

We only collect information we actually need. That includes:

• Account data — email address, display name/handle, avatar and password (stored hashed) when you register.
• Profile & activity — the deals you save, follow, vote on, comment on, submit or report; Extreme Points balance and badges.
• Preferences — followed retailers, price alerts, newsletter opt-ins.
• Contact messages — anything you send us via the contact form.
• Technical data — IP address, browser, device, referrer, pages viewed, and error diagnostics.
• Cookies & similar tech — see Cookies Policy.

• Provide and secure your account, wishlist, alerts and Extreme Points.
• Send price-drop alerts and, if you opt in, our newsletter.
• Moderate submissions, comments and votes and prevent abuse.
• Measure how the site performs so we can improve it.
• Attribute affiliate clicks so retailers can pay us commission (see Affiliate Disclosure).
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data.

• Contract — to run your account and deliver the features you sign up for.
• Consent — for newsletters, non-essential cookies and analytics.
• Legitimate interests — to keep the site secure, prevent fraud/abuse, and understand aggregate usage.
• Legal obligation — where the law requires us to retain or disclose information.

We share limited data with trusted processors that help us run the site:

• Hosting, database, authentication and email delivery providers.
• Analytics providers (aggregated, where possible).
• Affiliate networks — when you click an affiliate link, the destination retailer and network receive click data (not your account details).
• Law enforcement or regulators where we are legally required to.

Some processors may be based outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on UK-approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and Standard Contractual Clauses.

• Account data — until you delete your account, then removed within 30 days (backup rotation may extend this by up to 90 days).
• Newsletter — until you unsubscribe.
• Contact messages — up to 24 months.
• Server & security logs — up to 12 months.

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Delete your account and associated data.
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Port your data to another service.
• Withdraw consent (e.g. unsubscribe from the newsletter) at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email us via the contact form. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, role-based access controls and row-level security on our database. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to keep yours safe.

Extreme Bargains is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page and, where appropriate, notified by email.
